Island Inn is a long-established independent beachfront property spread across roughly ten acres on the Gulf side of Sanibel Island, with about 550 feet of private shoreline that is well regarded for shelling. Accommodations combine hotel-style lodge rooms with one-, two- and three-bedroom cottages, many with kitchens and screened porches, giving the property an aparthotel character suited to families and extended stays; a comprehensive remodel was completed in 2023. Guests are supplied with complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas, and the inn does not charge resort fees. Shared amenities include free wireless internet throughout, free parking, guest laundry facilities, barbecue grills, in-room safes, and bicycle, kayak and paddleboard rentals. Weekly guided beach walks are run in partnership with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, and the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum is close by. The front office is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Check-in is from 3:00 PM with a minimum age of 25, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Pets are not accepted.
